Exclamation why is there no D/R

I am wondering why PVX wiki, other then the obvious "no one has made that..." dosent have a D/R? like is there no good builds?

I would like your oppinions on this and on the mixture of D/R

I am not asking for builds, as i make my own, but for your opinions on the class mix and the reason PVXwiki dosent have any builds for it

Secondary professions are there to support the primary. Ask yourself: What does Ranger have that fills in Dervish weaknesses or synergises well/greatly improves what the Dervish does?

I've never played a Derv so I wouldn't know, but nothing comes to mind.

Lack of synergy I would guess. The two main features /R gives to melee in general are antiode sig and apply posion. Apply is made useless by the staple enchants, and offensive utility like wild blow is much more useful than antidote, since your party should probably have some sort of spot removal.

What the 2 above me said.

Also, if you see any profession with a Ranger secondary, besides an Assassin (critical barrage), it's usually because they want to carry a pet around.

Here is a D/R build that was on pvx long time [Pet Derv;OgKjYpprqSNXMX8Gvlhbyg8g0GA]

here is the link to pvx page (dun know why removed) http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build/R_Zealous_Pet_Dervish

anyway i wouldnt use it dervish just doesnt has enough synergy with ranger Derv has enough survivability and will always work better with WS and just normal scythe stuff HoF,AoHM the obvious dervish skills.

Just use Monk/Rit for rezzes
War for SY, Wild Blow, Protector strike that kinda stuff

thats normal and in most cases the best imo

Actually, I use a D/R for Normal Mode. Beast master, that is and I use a quite balanced build for it. If you feel curious about the build, pm me in the game and I feel more than happy to send it to you, my name is Derv Has Scythe.

1. D and R are two of the weakest classes in GW right now. Combining them isn't exactly a great idea.

2. When running a physical damage dealer, you must always answer the question: "Does my secondary contribute as much as SY! would?" The answer is almost always "no." Hence P/W, A/W, D/W, R/W...

well i was thinking about this one day and d/r actually makes sense because of one key skill, symbiosis! Dervishes are basically enchanted tanks, so symbiosis would help it out immensely when tanking or u could try to solo farm with it. There are better things out there, but there are also worse

well but the spirit can be maintained if u have a high enough rating and with the right point distribution and runes its a viable (and insanely fun) way to play

This, any person with a ranger primary or secondary should carry Dshot. It's hard to find something more entertaining than KD with Dev Hammer, quarter knock with Bash, and then quarterrupt with Dshot

D/R and spare points in Marksmanship combined with Avatar of Balt or Lyssa will allow fair ranged damage, useful with PvE / heroes and hench. Only need Marks 3 or so, and a low req bow. Maybe throw on barrage for AoE. Damage is nearly all from the Balt or Lyssa bonus.

D/R with pet ... for me mostly a fun build, not really worth soaking all the points into Beast Mastery.

In my oppionion the idea of posioning a sythe to do aoe damage with one of the skills that deals damage to all creatures around you is essential. That and troll urgent I believe it's called is another vital skill. These are just some of the reason I think this class works especially the abillity to posioning your weapon when a dervish can do at times a lot of aoe damage with his sythe

Troll urgent is pretty bad.

Also, why waste time poisoning when you can just kill?

when your soloing and you have massive mobs of creatures, a little poison will go along way since, as you guys say, Dervishes are one of the weakest classes (personally I think mes and par are but ok..) i thought it would be beneficial to retain health and kill em faster (em = the monsters).

What he said.

If you're the only physical in your team, taking SY is the best option in any scenario. 2x SY is optimal really.

It also makes mobs much harder to kill. Unless you are running an orders team that skill should never meet your bar.

Aside from EDA and maybe VoS with volley, d/r is a pretty poor class. There's no need for defensive abilities when you're in the backline with a bow. Adding a pet might also seem usefull but unless you are investing in BM you are left with a semi-useless meatshield.

I can think of a few combinations. AoG/EDA/AoL+volley+mstic vigor or Barrage+mystic vigor. Throw in Symbiosis maybe, it sounds fun. Add pve skills like ebsoh or asuran scan (will it work with barrage/volley?) or drunken master and u r in business. Oh and u cant go past dshot.
